What the Release Date Planner does

A music release timeline starts long before release day. A release date is only one deadline. Artwork, credits and audio need to be ready before delivery, and editorial pitching, pre-saves and press outreach all benefit from lead time. This planner works backward from your chosen date so you can see the preparation window at a glance.

The dates are planning suggestions, not distributor or platform guarantees. Your distributor's processing time, the scale of your campaign and each outlet's lead time can differ. If a suggested deadline has already passed, the timeline marks it clearly so you can adjust your plan rather than assume you have missed your chance.

  • Seven dated milestones from preparation to release day
  • Distributor delivery and Spotify editorial pitching reminders
  • Press, pre-save and promo lead times
  • Past deadlines highlighted in the timeline
  • Works locally in your browser without an account

Release Date Planner - frequently asked questions

How far ahead should I deliver my music?

The planner suggests four weeks. Check your distributor's actual lead time; some campaigns need much longer, especially if you are arranging physical releases or significant press.

When should I pitch to Spotify editorial?

The suggested timeline puts delivery and pitching four weeks ahead. Spotify requires an eligible unreleased track in Spotify for Artists before you can pitch; the published minimum is at least seven days before release for certain benefits, but earlier gives you more room.

Does my release need to come out on Friday?

No. Friday is a common global release day, but you can choose any date. The planner uses the day you enter and does not move it to Friday.

What if a deadline has already passed?

It appears as already passed in your timeline. The dates are recommendations, not a rule that blocks your release; contact your distributor or adjust the campaign to your actual time available.

Does the planner save my release?

No. The free page calculates dates locally and does not save them. You can use TSG Studio's Release Planner to organise a persistent workflow.

Can I use this without an account?

Yes. Enter a date and read the timeline immediately, for free.
